Then create the related HDD diagnostic utility CD (use the DOS bootable version), boot the laptop on that CD (change the boot order priority to HDD first in the BIOS) and run the long/extended test on your hard drive. Expand disk drives and google with the model ID you'll find there to find the manufacturer of the drive. Go to the device manager : start => run => devmgmt.msc. To make sure the hard drive is in good health you'll need to run the manufacturer's diagnostic utility on it. If there are disk errors you may have some hardware problem, if your laptop is still under warranty I would contact Acer about that. Search the system section for disk errors and report here if you find any. Go to the event viewer : start => run => eventvwr.msc. Start by making sure you have installed all the latest drivers and critical windows updates for your laptop.
